AYALA ALABANG, A DRUG-CLEARED BRGY: Barangay Ayala Alabang is now declared as Drug-Cleared Barangay and as Drug-Free Barangay Hall by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. Officials from PDEA, Dangerous Drugs Board, and local government led the proclamation and unveiling of drug-free billboards at Ayala Alabang Barangay Hall last September 7. Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the LGU stands with the national government’s campaign to eradicate illegal drug activities in the localities.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency declared Barangay Ayala Alabang as a Drug-Cleared Barangay and a Drug-Free Barangay Hall after the success of its crackdown campaign against illegal drugs.
PDEA representative Atty. Arly Agtay, Dangerous Drugs Board Usec. Aileen Matibag, Coun. Lester Baes representing Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, and Brgy. Ayala Alabang Chairman Ruben Baes led the proclamation and unveiling of drug-free billboards at Ayala Alabang Barangay Hall last September 7.
Capt. Baes said the barangay government prioritized drug clearing operations in adherence to DDB Regulation No. 3 series of 2017 in relation to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2012-94.
For the last three months, Brgy. Ayala Alabang recorded non-availability of drug supply, absence of drug transit, absence of clandestine drug laboratory and warehouse, absence of marijuana cultivation site, absence of drug dens, absence of drug users/pushers/protectors, involvement of barangay officials in anti-drug activities, existence of drug awareness and prevention information programs, among others. This has been validated by PDEA and DDB.
The barangay also conducted consultations with different sectors within the barangay, IEC campaigns, and established Barangay Referral Desk with assigned 24/7 Desk Officers which led to the declaration.
For the proclamation of the Barangay Hall as a Drug-Free Workplace, some initiatives taken were the passage of a Workplace Anti-Drug Abuse Policy, creation of a Workplace Anti-Drug Abuse Committee (WADAAT), publication and signing of policy to all employees, conduct of Substance Abuse Prevention Empowerment and Resiliency Fora, conduct of compulsory drug test and corresponding action, and evaluation and issuance of resolution for the pronouncement.
One barangay employee identified using illegal drugs did not continue in the service after the release of the drug exam’s results and was subjected to intervention through MAPALAD Program, a local rehabilitation approach for drug-users.
Brgy. Ayala Alabang adds to two other drug-free communities in the city namely Gundran Compound and Pinagpala Compound in Brgy. Putatan. It is also the second barangay workplace to be declared as Drug-Free following Brgy. Poblacion on 2017.
Every month, the PDEA and DDB shall conduct re-evaluation and assessment in the barangay for the issuance of the Drug-Clear status.
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the LGU stands with the national government’s campaign to eradicate illegal drug activities in the localities. Fresnedi vows to assist the barangays in achieving a drug-clear community for all.
