To promote the rights and welfare of migrant workers and their families, the local government of Muntinlupa partners with DOLE, POEA, OWWA, and TESDA for the establishment of OFW Help Desks and crackdown of illegal recruitment activities in the city.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi signed a memorandum of agreement with labor execs on Tuesday afternoon for the launching of Illegal Recruitment-Free LGU campaign in Muntinlupa City.

Fresnedi extended his gratitude to the labor agencies for their assistance in the implementation of overseas employment programs and ensuring the protection of OFWs in the city.

“We are entering this partnership to help our kababayans who wish to explore opportunities outside the country and also assist those OFWs who wants to return to their families here in Muntinlupa,” the local exec said.

Attending the MOA signing ceremony were POEA Anti-Illegal Recruitment Director Atty. Francis Ron De Guzman, OWWA NCR Program Services Division Director Ma. Theresa Capa, DOLE MUNTAPARLAS Field Office Director Leonides Castileon Jr., and Muntinlupa Public Employment Service Office head Glenda Aniñon.

The City Government of Muntinlupa partners with DOLE, POEA, OWWA, and TESDA for the installation of OFW Help Desks that will provide current information on government programs and services for migrant workers and the processes of overseas employment.

The partnership aims to boost information campaign on the potential and risks of overseas employment, legal channels on applying, requirements and procedures, and other relevant information.

Consultation for provisions on Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act, Expanded Anti-Trafficking Act, Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, Family Law, and procedural legal options will be available in the OFW Help Desk.

The local government shall also integrate programs and services such as Entrepreneurship Development Training, counseling, financial literacy, development of OFW case intake, referrals, networking, and livelihood services for OFWs and their families.

Further, a database of OFWs residing in the city classified according to occupation, job category, and among other demographic classifications will be established.

Muntinlupa LGU will also boost its crackdown campaign against unlicensed recruitment establishments engaged in illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons.
