Being instrumental in Muntinlupa’s separation as an independent municipality from then municipality of Taguig, Governor General Francis Burton Harrison was honored during ceremonies of the local government’s flag raising rites.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and Office of the Political Adviser secretary Francis Tolentino led the unveiling ceremony of the bust of Governor General Francis Burton Harrison, hailed as “Father of Modern Day Muntinlupa,” last March 5 at the City Hall Quadrangle, Putatan.

Political Adviser Francis Tolentino donated Harrison’s bust to the City Government together with the official copy of Executive Order No. 108 creating the municipality of Muntinlupa.

He recounted Harrison’s contribution to some Philippine cities and cited the Governor as a true Filipino patriot and nationalist.

Tolentino noted that Gen. Harrison also approved the creation of Daraga, Albay as an independent municipality which Muntinlupa has been helping its displaced residents today.

“What a coincidence that municipalities founded by Gen. Harrison that are apart by miles were bonded together in one singular moment of compassion,” Tolentino said.

Muntinlupa City Government pledged to provide support in Metro Manila Council’s Relief Caravan to affected families in Albay due to the volcanic activities of Mayon Volcano.
